The Shelby County Community Foundation is a community foundation for Shelby County. It was established in 1997 and is affiliated with the Omaha Community Foundation. This relationship eliminates the need for each of nine affiliates in southwest Iowa to maintain a separate IRS tax status. Collectively, they are known as the Community Foundations of Southwest Iowa. It allows Shelby County to benefit from the Omaha Community Foundation’s staff and expertise.
