Mike App
Finding a place for charitable giving in your life. Like many 30-somethings, Mike App spends a great deal of time building a career, joking that he only works half-days — 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Despite his best efforts, that doesn't leave Mike much time to pursue his commitment to community service. Fortunately for Mike and for the organizations he likes to support, such as Creighton Prep and Campfire USA, the Omaha Community Foundation offers a time-saving solution — a Charitable Checkbook Account.
Mike opened his account with a relatively modest, lump-sum contribution. Now, when he wants to make a charitable contribution, he simply calls the Foundation. "They cut the check, so it saves me time, effort, and the mad rush at the end of the year," Mike noted. He refers to himself as living proof that you don't have to be rich, or a generation older, to help others.
